
Reasons of Job Stress
Job stress is one of the major problems that the corporate world is facing today. Job stress is a chronic disease caused by conditions in the workplace that negatively affect an individual’s performance and overall well-being of his body and mind. One or more of a host of physical and mental illnesses manifests job stress.
Job stress is caused by many reasons. One of the major reasons for job stress in the current scenario of a market affected by recession is job insecurity. Organizations are going through metamorphic changes under intense economic transformations. The expansion of technology—computers, pagers, cell phones, fax machines and the Internet—has resulted in heightened expectations for productivity, speed and efficiency, increasing pressure on the individual worker to constantly operate at peak performance levels. Workers working with heavy machinery are under constant stress to remain alert. In this case both the worker and their family members live under constant Mental Stress. There is also the constant pressure to keep up with technological breakthroughs and improvisations, forcing employees to learn new software all the times.
Personal and family problems also contribute to depression, unfocused attention, lack of motivation at workplace and stress.
When under severe stress, an individual fails to take clear-cut decisions, reevaluate and reassess the priorities and lifestyles. This can be described as a classic case of burnout. Burnouts often engage in reckless or risk-taking behaviors.
Stresses out employees cannot deliver high performance which is why it is important to reduce the level of stress within the workplace to increase the productivity of employees.

It is important for organizations to hire the right candidates who suit their work environment and requirements otherwise they will end up exerting themselves too far and thus increasing job stress.
