I seem to get hiccups at a specific scedule and I am considering self-hypnosis, what do you guys think?
Ok, I have tried just about everything I can and nothing seems to work. I’m not going to try the medications because I believe that they are Stress related, only they come at specific times daily.
A hypnotist that came to my school said self-hypnotism might work but I’m not sure. I have managed to hypnotize myself before, but I don’t know what to do with it to be rid of my hiccups. any suggestions?
If there is no medical cause self or guide hypnosis will work. I have used self hypnosis to get rid of the hiccups many times. Here’s what I do:
1. Sit relaxed with eyes closed in quiet room. No distractions like TV, Music, background conversations, etc.
2. Relax and let my tension go and muscles limp.
3. Feel (or imagine you can feel) inside your body, your lungs and esophagus and where they join together.
4. I like to think that there is a little bit of phlegm stuck between my lungs and esphogus that need to be dislodged.
5. Star slowly inhaling and rapidly exhaling.
6. swallow three times at a relaxed pace.
7. Imagine your the alveoli, the little finger like projections in your lungs pushing the phelgm out, up and over from your lungs.
This also works well if a friend gives you these instructions in a calm voice.
