Write Your Thoughts Down
One of the most helpful things you can do is to keep a diary or journal. Writing your problems and concerns down, is a form of venting, and a great way to gain some perspective as well as sort things out. It’s hard to know what to do or how to cope when you aren’t focused and everything is swirling around in your head.
Choosing a journal is a very personal thing and you should select one that you will feel comfortable writing in. It may sound silly, but the closer and more attached you feel to your journal, the more likely you will be to write in it consistently. A journal can easily become your trusted friend.
Start by putting all the things that worry you in your journal. Don’t be concerned how much you write or how long the list may be, just focus on getting everything that’s on your mind onto the paper. This “brain dump” will take some of the strain off of your mind, and you’ll start to see more clearly and will be able to come up with workable solutions.
In addition to writing down your stresses, you can have in depth “talks” with yourself in the journal. Write down your fears and try to work through them so you can come up possible solutions. This is a great strategy to solving problems that will ultimately help you start to relieve your stress.
Meditate
Meditation isn’t just a “new age” phenomenon that has become increasingly popular with the mainstream. It is a legitimate practice that is known to help relieve your stress no matter if you are traditional or not. Meditation is centered on the basic philosophy of quieting your mind and peace with your thoughts.
Find a place that is quiet and where you won’t be interrupted. Find a comfortable position to sit in making sure that you are as comfortable as possible. Then take several deep breaths from your diaphram ,. As you inhale and exhale allow yourself the chance to let everything you’re Stressed out about be released with your breaths. Practicing this on a regular basis will offer precious time away from your hectic life and will give you clarity that can greatly relieve your stress.
Enjoy Fun Activities
Stress can also occur when our lives are too full with work and other activities that create anxiety. If all you’re doing is working or focusing on aspects of your life that are negative, you’re bound to have a lot of stress. It’s important to make sure that you have balance in your life and that you are enjoying fun and enjoyable things as well.
What is it that you enjoy? That varies for everyone. Just schedule in activities on a regular basis that are fun for you, it will help you take a break from life’s stresses. Everyone needs an escape once in a while.
Some people have a hard time relaxing and enjoying themselves when there is work to do or there are other things to worry about. This is negative trap and faulty thinking as sometimes the best ideas and solutions come from the clarity you achieve when you are relaxing and taking a break.
Learning how to relieve stress is not difficult, it’s just a matter of figuring out what works for you. What is important is that you make the decision to take control of your life and start relieving your stress with all of the great solutions that are out there.
