What are your tips for beating social Anxiety?
I have really bad social anxiety. And I never go out. I always avoid eye contact and speaking to anyone. So what are your tips on beating social anxiety?
Hi Lots questions on Anxiety. too many people in the world I think is the main cause. but let’s look at a few things.
First you can’t really beat it. Sorry to say it will probably always be there. The trick is to recondition your thoughts to calm a person down.
For instance lets say you don;’t feel attractive enough- or you feel you don;’t fit in- Or you have a physical disabuility that you are not comfortable for other people to see. These can cause this kind of anxiety.
Because we just don’t belong and feel the avg person will make fun or attack us for these types of problems. Then the idea is to do things to make our selves feel more attractive. Like get a hair cut or dress nicer. Maybe smile more. But to do something to make us a bit more of a out word person and feel better about ourselves as a whole.
Force yourself to make eye contact and smile and least say hi. you may not get a response but it’s a beginning. I stay 90 percent of my time a lone. And don’t like going out in public. So I go pick up my friend sam and bring him along with me. It helps relax me. And i don’t feel so confined in a world that is being invaded by the human race. I’m a very out word person I smile can talk to anyone compliment people i don’t know. But i do have that anxiety when I go out to even the grocery store a lone. It’s not a bad thing but it is a chore.
Why? And this is what you need to find out why you feel this way. Because people have always let me down. I used to trust people. Think that all people are basically good. etc… And have always been let down. I isolate myself because i given up on the human race. And now I get anxiety because these people are waking around. Trampling on my isolation. And it annoys me.
So I wear what I feel comfortable in. i might brush my hair but naa usually not. I smile but inside I just want do my stuff and go home. My safety zone. ;m sure if I forced myself to go back to bars and hang where people hang I be a social animal again. But I know I better off in the place i am right now.
But once you know what it is that really bothers you about being in public then you can find the things you can do to make it a little better and not so anxious. Explore yourself and try to figure that out. i wish you well dave
