AMD confirms forecast of sales growth this year by 28-30%

Coronavirus expected to have little impact on AMD sales this quarter

AMD has confirmed its previous forecast for sales growth this year. The company expects that coronavirus will have little effect on sales of AMD products in the current quarter, and growth for the year as a whole will be 28-30%.

According to AMD, the impact of coronavirus may lead to the fact that revenue in the first quarter will be at the lower boundary of the forecast. The predicted value is $ 1.8 billion ± $ 50 million.

Interestingly, since the beginning of the year, AMD has been increasing orders for the production of Epyc server processors, as the demand for servers is increasing due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

According to industry sources, the benefits of Epyc processors will enable AMD to increase the market share of server processors to 10% by the end of the year. In addition, since server processors bring more profit, their sales will help increase the gross margin from 43% last year to 45% this year. For comparison: in 2018, AMD's gross margin was 39%.
