AMD Zen4 comes out early next year: 5nm process is gone?

According to AMD's specifications, the Zen3 architecture after 7nm Zen2 has been developed. The 7nm + EUV process will be used, and IPC performance will increase by about 10-15%. It will be released in the second half of this year. Zen3 is Zen4, and the latest news reports that the Zen4 processor will be available as soon as Q1 of 2021.
AMD Zen4 comes out early next year: 5nm process is gone?

The German PCGH website recently analyzed the latest roadmap of AMD and Intel processors. Let's first look at the AMD side:

First of all, the 7nm Zen2 architecture Ryzen 3000 desktop version and Ryzen 4000 mobile version have been released, these are no suspense.

Also released in the second half of this year is the Ryzen 4000 desktop version, which uses 7nm + technology, Zen3 architecture, or AM4 slot and DDR4 memory. There is no objection, depending on the release time.

However, their news about the Zen4 processor is somewhat different, including the release time and technology. They believe that Zen4 is still 7nm + technology, and it will be available in Q1 of 2021.

AMD Zen4 comes out early next year: 5nm process is gone?

In AMD ’s official roadmap, the Zen4 architecture is in “design” progress, so a lot of information has not been determined. The previous speculation was that the 5nm process was released in the second half of 2021, which is more in line with AMD's statement of upgrading once a year.

However, the news from PCGH shows another possibility, that is, AMD will not be the first to adopt the 5nm process. Zen4 will still use the more mature 7nm + process at that time, but it will be upgraded on the architecture and platform, such as support for DDR5, AM4 sockets. Should also be renewed.

In the absence of an official real hammer, the possibility of Zen4 using the 7nm + process cannot be ruled out, but the timing given by PCGH is a bit weird. If Zen3 is released in the second half of 2020, how could Zen4 be released in half a year? This is not reasonable.

As for Intel's roadmap, it is really good to say that from Comet Lake this year to Rocket Lake next year, the 14nm ++ process continues to be completed.

The variable is the Alder Lake processor in 2021. The previous news broke that it was said to continue at 14nm, and also said that it was a 10nm process. Now I can only watch it.
