Leaked: Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 integrates 5G baseband for the first time

On May 6, the flagship of the new generation Qualcomm SoC Snapdragon 875 is already at the final stage of development and will be officially released at the end of this year. In addition, the Snapdragon 865 will not open the Plus version like the Snapdragon 855, and the Snapdragon 875 will be its true successor.

According to reports, the Snapdragon 875 is codenamed SM8350 and built using the latest 5nm TSMC process. One of the biggest updates is the first 5G baseband integration. Theoretically, the energy efficiency ratio is higher, and the heat consumption is lower. The previous generation Snapdragon 865 is still the “plug-in” X55 baseband, and the Snapdragon 765, which was subsequently released, is Qualcomm’s first mobile platform that integrates the 5G baseband with SoC.

Leaked: Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 integrates 5G baseband for the first time

It is reported that Snapdragon 875 for the first time integrates the baseband X60 5G. On February 18 this year, Qualcomm for the first time released the latest 5G baseband Snapdragon X60. This is also the third 5G baseband chip released by Qualcomm after the X50 and X55. At the same time, the X60 is also identified by Qualcomm as the third-generation 5G solution.

The X60 is based on the 5-nm process technology for the first time, and its performance and power consumption will be better than the X55 on the 7-nm process technology. In terms of speed, the X60 baseband can reach download speeds of up to 7.5 Gb / s and download speeds of up to 3 Gb / s. Although generally consistent with the previous generation of the X55, the X60 focuses on improving carrier aggregation capabilities over the X55 and supports millimetre wave aggregation below -6 GHz, FDD-TDD aggregation below 6 GHz and the recently released QTM535 antenna.

In addition, support for VoNR technology has been added to the X60 main band. This is a solution for voice technology on a 5G network, which is similar to VoLTE technology on a 4G network. It allows us to support the 5G network when using voice calls without switching to 4G to provide network and voice services. Work on the same network.

For other specifications, the Snapdragon 875 is expected to use the Kryo 685 processor. Other aspects include the Adreno 660 GPU, Adreno 665 VPU, Adreno 1095 DPU, Qualcomm Security Processing Unit (SPU250) and Spectra 580.

As usual, Qualcomm will hold the Snapdragon technology summit in December, when the Snapdragon 875 will be officially announced. Meanwhile, the terminal equipped with the Snapdragon 875 + X60 solution should be launched in early 2021.
