Ricoh talked about the development of an APS-C format camera and three lenses

Ricoh Imaging released a video outlining the plans for its camera and three lenses: fast standard zoom for APS-C cameras, wide-angle models of the Limited series, and fast portrait lenses.

The latter was announced in March, but now the manufacturer has added details to its description. Pentax-D FA * 85mmF1.4 SDM AW Full-Frame Lens - Pentax's first 85mm lens designed specifically for digital cameras. Its optical design will include three Super ED elements, which will minimize chromatic aberration.

The design also uses a concave front element, which, according to the company, reduces some distortion. Spherical aberration has been optimized for attractive bokeh, and not just for maximum sharpness. The manufacturer claims that the result will be "the best lens in its class." It should be released this year, and this will be preceded by a more specific announcement.

The second novelty in the lens category is still called D FA 21mm Limited. This is a full-frame lens with a fixed focal length of 21 mm. The maximum aperture is not specified by the manufacturer. Like other representatives of the Limited series, the lens will use a metal structure, but unlike them, it will be equipped with an integrated focus drive. The lens will be weatherproof. Black and silver versions are planned for release in 2021.

The third lens is designed for APS-C format cameras and is still called HD DA * 16-50mmF2.8. It will find the application of the "pulse" focus driver (PLM), which will move the light collecting element of the new optical circuit quickly and silently. The company plans to release the lens in the first half of 2021 to keep it on the market in sync with the flagship camera format APS-C.

For this camera, the most interesting element in its design may be the new optical viewfinder, which uses special glass with "excellent refraction". The manufacturer expects to obtain a magnification of 1.05 times, which is equivalent to 0.7 times the full-frame camera, which is the same as the K-1 full-frame camera. The sensor below the viewfinder will automatically turn off the LCD screen, and a more prominent eye mask will make the viewfinder easier to use. In addition, the manufacturer promised to improve tracking focus.
